What you need to make the items
For the dog ganseys:
160 (300) g Frangipani 5 ply wool
pair 3.75 mm (US 5) needles

For the hats:
80 (100, 120, 140) g Frangipani 5 ply wool
pair 3.75 (3.75, 4, 4)mm (US 5 (5, 6, 6) needles

For either:
cable needle
row counter
stitch markers

Sizes
The smaller size will fit dogs with a similar body size to a Scottie, including Westies, Poodles, Border Terriers etc. The larger size will fit dogs with a similar chest size to a Border Collie, including Lerchers, German Shepherds, Boxers etc. Note that the fabric round the chest is stretchy and the back and leg lengths are easily adjustable to fit other breeds

Hats to fit baby (child, woman, man)

back length to base of neck 10 17 ins
chest unstretched 18 22 ins
chest stretched 22 26 ins
leg length 2 4 ins

Tension
25 sts and 38 rows to 4 ins over the belly pattern unstretched

The pattern will work with DK yarns but you MUST do a swatch first!
