pdf pattern for the Dolphin Gansey Tunic by Elizabeth Lovick
A modern twist to the traditional gansey! This tunic is worked in the round from the bottom up. It is also possible to make this pattern as an ordinary sweater by replacing the dolphins round the hem with ribbing.
Things you need to know to make the tunic:
Materials
Frangipani yarn as in the table below
3.25, 3.5 and 3.75 mm (US 3, 4 and 5) circular needles (or sets of dpns)
Tension
24 sts and 36 rows to 4 ins over pattern on 3.25 mm needles after washing and blocking. Adjust your needle size to get the correct tension.
Note
Frangipani yarn is a 5 ply gansey yarn, which comes in a wide variety of colours. See the colours at www.guernseywool.co.uk, or email jan [!at] guernseywool.co.uk for shade card.
The pattern will also work in DK yarns, but you MUST swatch first!

Adjusting body and sleeve lengths – the repeat of the body and sleeve pattern is 4.5". If possible arrange to alter lengths by a whole pattern. Note that the wave pattern is about 1" and can be used at the top and bottom of the sleeve, and before the yoke if required. Note also that the sleeve is designed to balloon above the cuff so should be longer than your arm length.
