Practice your gansey skills on a couple of cushion which use old and new motifs


Things you need to know to make the cushions:

Materials
100 g (250 g) Frangipani 5 ply gansey wool
pair 3 (3.75) mm (US 2 and 5)
row counter
crochet hook if required
5 buttons for the button-backed cushion

Sizes
14 ins square and 18 ins square after washing and blocking

Tension
24 sts and 36 rows to 4 ins over pattern on 3 mm needles
20 sts and 36 rows to 4 ins over pattern on 3.75 mm needles

Frangipani yarn is a 5 ply gansey yarn, which comes in a wide variety of colours. See the

The pattern will also work in DK yarns, but you MUST swatch first!

Both designs use roughly the same number of stitches and it is possible to use either set of charts with either needle size. It is the size of the needles which decides the finished size.

The backs of both cushions can be buttoned or can be worked through in one piece.
