Things you need to know to make the hats and gloves

Materials
DK yarn in the amounts shown in the table. (I used Patons Fairytale Colour 4 Me 100% wool DK, 90 m/50 g, colour 4982)
cable needle
row counter
stitch marker for gloves
stitch holders or lengths of yarn
for the small size: 3.5, 3.75, 4 and 4.5 mm (US 4, 5, 6, 7) circs or dpns
for the average size: 3.75, 4, 4.5 and 5 mm US (5, 6, 7, 8) circs or dpns
for the large size: 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 mm (US 6, 7, 8, 9) circs or dpns


Sizes
Note that the stitch pattern is very stretchy and gives at least 50% extra width in wear. Arm and finger length are adjustable. Measurements are given un-stretched.

Gloves
elbow to wrist 9.5 (10.5, 11) ins
palm circumference 6 (7, 8) ins

Hats
circumference 17 (18, 19) ins
busby height 10 (11, 12) ins
beanie height 8 (9, 10) ins

No of 50 g balls needed
Gloves 4 (4, 4)
Busby 2 (3, 3)
Beanie 2 (2, 3)
Set of gloves and hat 6 (6, 7)


Tension
25 sts and 36 rows to 4 ins on 3.75 mm needles over the main filler pattern

Note that this pattern will work for DK yarns of other companies as long as the tension is correct.
