pdf pattern for the Auld Toorie
in Jamieson and Smith’s Heritage Wool
In the islands off the top of Scotland, a beanie is called a toorie. This one is worked in the round, with a facing at the start and the decreases at the top worked between the stranded patterns.
Materials
25 g balls of Jamieson and Smith's Heritage yarn, one each in Indigo, Peat and Auld Gold or other 4 ply/fingering yarn
2.5 and 3mm (US 1 and 2) circular needles or dpns
row counter and stitch markers as desired
Sizes
to fit child (woman, man)
head circumference about 18 (21, 23)"
actual size 15 (18, 21)"
Tension
30 sts and 32 rows to 4 ins over pattern on 3 mm needles
