Other yarn suggestions
‘1 ply’ :

any 1/111, 1/14 or 1/15 yarn, such as Jamieson and Smith’s Cobweb
‘2 ply’:
any ColourMart 2/14 or 4/28 yarn
Jamieson and Smith’s 2 ply lace weight
Any 2 or 3 ply yarn such as Adriafil Pure Merion, Patons Fairytale Dreamtime wool
For babies. you might like a machine washable yarn such as Patons Fariytale or Sirdar’s Snuggly
Note – if using 3 ply, the size will be approximately the same as for 2 ply, but the holes will be smaller and the yardage needed will be about 10% more.
Tension
‘1 ply’: 25 sts and 48 rows to 4 ins after washing and blocking
‘2 ply’: 19 sts and 38 rows to 4 ins after washing and blocking
Note that tension is not critical, as long as you have enough yarn!
