This is a typically Cornish gansey, the lighthouse sometimes being called the Eddystone pattern after the Eddystone lighthouse 13 miles off the south Cornish coast.

It is knitted in the traditional manner, in the round from the hem up, including underarm gussets. There are buttons on the left shoulder.


Materials
1 (1, 1, 2, 2) x 500 g cones Frangipani yarn
2.5 and 3 mm (US 2 and 3) circular needles
pair 3 mm (US 3) needles
stitch holders or lengths of yarn
row counter; stitch markers or loops of yarn
3 buttons (about half inch)

Actual Measurements
chest 24 (26, 28, 30, 32) ins
length 14.5 (15, 16.5, 18.5, 20.5) ins
sleeve 9 (10, 12, 14, 16) ins
(length and sleeve are easily adjustable)

Tension
28 sts and 36 rows to 4 ins over stocking stitch on 3 mm needles after washing and blocking
