Thistles, sheep and the Saltire – all evoke Scotland. Whether worked in stripes or all in one colour, this useful triangle is fun to make and fun to wear.
Instructions are also given for a square shawl worked in the round.
Materials
For the Triangle:
Jamieson and Smith's 2 ply lace weight yarn, 25 g balls:
4 balls in white, 1 ball blue and 1 ball red, or 6 balls (1100 yards) of one colour
pair 4 mm (US 5) needles
waste yarn
row counter
3 stitch markers if required
For the Square:
Jamieson and Smith's 2 ply lace weight yarn, 25 g balls:
8 balls in white, 2 ball blue and 2 ball red, or 12 balls (2200 yards) of one colour
4mm dpns or circs
row counter
4 stitch markers if required
Sizes
Triangle – long side 63 ins, depth to point 33 ins
Square - sides 46 ins
Tension
About 19 sts and 36 rows to 4 ins over the thistle motif.
