The pattern has links to 4 videos, including one on choosing mini skeins, and another on making a mobius cowl.

This stich pattern, an old one called Betty Martin, is stretchy in all directions. This means that each size will fit a large age/size range.

Note that the hat and headband are designed to have 2" negative ease.
